A short bio for our September judge Tim Ball.

My chosen breed is the Shar Pei and it is approaching 35 years since my involvement with the breed began. I served on the committee of the Shar Pei Club of Great Britain for many years including a number of years as Chairman and several years I was one of the Club’s Vice Presidents and I am also an Honorary Life Member. During this time I played an active role in the Shar Pei being elevated to full Championship status in the UK.

As an exhibitor I am proud of the many achievements in the show ring which include Top Shar Pei on seven occasions, Top Puppy, Top Brood Bitch, Top Breeder and Top Stud. In addition more Champions have been crowned than by any other Shar Pei kennel here in the UK. Of course, my most notable achievement has been with the one-time breed record holder, Ch/Am Ch Asias Red Marsh Whip It Good (30 CCs), who is a General Championship BIS winner, winner of multiple groups and no fewer than 20 Group placements plus the UK’s Top Utility for 2010. His son is now the current breed record holder.

Over the years, I have imported more than twenty Shar Pei and I am immensely proud that the majority of the winning dogs in the breed during the past two decades or so have been/are descended from my imports or dogs which were born here at Kaitak. I judged Shar Pei at Crufts in 2000, which incidentally was also my first CC appointment, and have officiated overseas on a number of occasions.

I progressed to judge other breeds and currently I am approved to award Challenge Certificates in 39 breeds across the Utility (19), Toy (6), Working (3), Pastoral (5), Hound (3) and Terrier (3) Groups plus I am approved to judge the Utility Group and Best in Show at Championship Show level.

I first judged Cavaliers in 2003 and successfully passed a judging assessment for the breed in 2014. I am thrilled to have been asked to officiate at the Eastern Counties Cavalier King Charles Society’s Open Show in September 2020 and wish to thank the Officers and Committee of the Society for the invitation.
